Yes, there is emergency care for wildlife, and volunteers do it all. North Country Wild Care is in search of new volunteers to help with every facet of our work, from staffing our hotline to transporting and caring for animals. Join us at our upcoming training sessions and learn what you can do to help and how to become a Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. Classes are free of charge but donations to help support our efforts to care for distressed wildlife are greatly appreciated!

North Country Wild Care is a non-profit organization formed in 2001 to assist rehabilitators in their work. Wildlife Rehabilitators are volunteers who take care of injured and orphaned wildlife.

North Country Wild Care welcomes new members, those willing to assist with fundraising, public education and general organization business as well as people looking to become wildlife rehabilitators. NCWC meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 7PM-9PM at the Landmark Motor Inn off of Exit 17N at 1418 Route 9. The Inn is approximately 1/2 mile off the exit.

Monthly Meetings

Monthly Meetings are open to anyone interested in joining us on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Landmark Motor Inn. The Landmark Motor Inn is off of Exit 17N at 1418 Route 9. The Inn is approximately 1/2 mile off the exit. (Off site meeting in July, no meetings in August and December.)

Important Dates for Rehabilitators

Wildlife Rehabilitator's Exam - Usually held on a Friday morning in early April of each year and at the NYSWRC Annual Conference.  The April exam is given in the DEC Regional Offices.  Go to the Department of Environmental Conservation site for further information.  Call DEC Special Licenses Unit at 402-8985 to register.

New York State Wildlife Rehabilitation Council's Annual Conference - Generally held on a Weekend in October or November.  RVS (rabies Vector Training) and the Wildlife Rehabilitator's Exam are given at the conference.
